Plans for scheduling the Easter Vigil should note it is the high point of the celebration of the Lord’s death and resurrection and must take place at night. Sunset on April 4, the date of this year's Easter Vigil, is projected to be at 7:56 p.m. Therefore, in accordance with the Roman Missal Universal Norms n.21 and the Pastoral Directives, Bishop Oscar A. Solis has determined the Easter Vigil should not be celebrated before 9 p.m. in the Diocese of Salt Lake City. Reasons of convenience are not adequate causes for beginning the Easter Vigil before nightfall.
