    Preschools and Childcare
    • Several schools offer early childhood development programs for infants through 3 year olds.  The Diocese has two year round programs for infants through Pre-K.  They are at Guardian Angel Day Care located on the grounds of the Skaggs Catholic Center in Draper, Utah in the southern end of the valley and Nano Nagle Children’s Center located adjacent to Saint Vincent de Paul Elementary school in Holladay, Utah in the center of the valley.   Both centers offer quality care for young children in a nurturing Catholic environment.

      Many of our other Catholic Schools offer school year long programs for 1, 2 and 3 year olds.
      Two of the other preschools are affiliated only with a parish.

    Elementary and Middle School
    • The Roman Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City has twelve elementary schools and one middle school.  Three schools: Saint Marguerite’s in Tooele, Saint Olaf's in Bountiful and Saint Joseph’s Elementary School in Ogden, are located 30-45 minutes outside of the Salt Lake City. The other nine schools are spread throughout the Salt Lake valley. Eleven of these schools follow the Pre-K4 through 8th grade traditional model of Catholic education. Saint John the Baptist Elementary school located in Draper, follows a K-5th grade model. Saint John the Baptist Middle school for 6, 7, and 8th graders is located in a wing of Juan Diego Catholic High School.  This complex is also referred to as the Skaggs Catholic Center.  All of these schools offer a quality academic program that is rooted in Catholic values.

    • The Roman Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City has three Catholic High Schools strategically located in Utah’s population centers. St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in Ogden, located forty-five minutes north of Salt Lake City, Judge Memorial Catholic High School located in the downtown area of Salt Lake City, and Juan Diego Catholic High School situated at the southern end of the Salt Lake Valley in Draper. All three high schools provide a rigorous academic program that is infused with gospel values.

      • New Student Applications, Grades PreKindergarten - 8th Grade, are now open for the 2025-2026 School Year!  Utah Catholic Schools provide a Christ-centered inclusive environment dedicated to faith formation, academic excellence and the individual growth of our students.
        Admission Timeline
        Priority Sibling Admission
        Beginning September 23, 2024, siblings will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.
         
        Prospective Student Early Admission
        September 23, 2024 – January 10, 2025.  Acceptances will be sent by February 7, 2025.
         
        Prospective Student Rolling Admission
        January 11, 2025, through the 2025-2026 School Year Acceptances will be sent after February 7, 2025, on a space available basis.
         
        Educational Assessment
        Prospective students, grades K-8, must complete an educational assessment.  Assessment dates will be determined by each school.
                • Grades K-2: Written & Oral Assessments
                • Grades 3-8: Star Math & Reading Assessments & Writing Prompt

                • Students whose families are registered at the host parish (if applicable)

        Transfer Students
        It is the expectation of the Catholic Schools Office that administrators communicate when a student from another Utah Catholic School applies for admission.  This communication should take place prior to the applicant completing the educational assessment and being accepted.

        Application Information

        To be considered for enrollment, all applicants, PreSchool - 8th Grade, need to complete the online application: https://dos-ut.client.renweb.com/oa/register.cfm?memberid=17586, submit the following documents and pay the non-refundable $50 application fee:
                • State Issued Birth Certificate
                • Updated Immunization Record (In accordance with Diocesan Policy, schools in the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City do not accept personal or religious immunization exemptions.  A medical exemption must be obtained from the student's pediatrician and must be on the practice’s letterhead. The student’s pediatrician must be licensed to practice in the State of Utah and maintain a medical practice in the State of Utah.
                • Baptismal Certificate, if applicable
                • Most Recent Report Card, Grades 1-8'
                • Educational/Diagnostic/Evaluative Testing Results/IEP/504, if applicable
                •  Custodial Documentation, if applicable
                • In addition, applicants, Grades K-8, need to complete an educational assessment, which will be administered as determined by each school.

        The Utah Catholic School system spans throughout Salt Lake, Weber, Davis and Tooele Counties. It includes 13 parish elementary and middle schools, 9 early childhood learning centers, and 3 high schools.  Schools are located in the cities of Ogden, Bountiful, Salt Lake, Holladay, Kearns, Riverton, Sandy, Draper and Tooele.

        All schools are accredited by the Western Catholic Educational Association. In addition, our high schools are also accredited by AdvancED. Schools are re-accredited every six years to ensure they are providing the best environment for academic growth and faith formation of all students. 

        We welcome non-Catholics into our schools and our spiritual community. 30.6% of our students are non-Catholic.

        Utah Catholic Schools are rich with diversity with 30% of the students representing different nationalities.

        The Utah Catholic School system has a tradition of educating students at the highest level with 98% college bound and millions of dollars in college academic scholarships given to graduates.

      • What is the purpose of the Utah Catholic Schools Office?

        The Catholic Schools’ office of the Diocese of Salt Lake City serves the mission of the church by providing leadership, service, and support to our 16 Catholic schools in the areas of Mission and Catholic Identity, Academic Excellence, Governance and Leadership, and Operational Vitality.

        Are schools accredited?

        Yes! All of our schools are accredited by the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA).  In addition, the High Schools are also accredited by AdvancED.  All schools are re-accredited every six years to ensure they are providing the best environment for academic growth and faith formation for all students.  

        Can my child enroll if we are not Catholic?

        Our schools are inclusive of all faiths. Close to 30.6% of the students at our schools are non Catholic students. Our schools teach and follow Catholic doctrine.

        Do you offer financial aid?

        We are committed to offering a quality Catholic education to as many families as possible. In keeping with our mission, families who are not capable of paying our full tuition rates may apply for tuition assistance/financial aid. Financial Assistance is granted by the schools on an individual need basis.  Each school uses FACTS, an outside independent company, to determine eligibility.  All of our schools give financial aid, based on need.  Please contact the school which you are applying directly to apply for Financial Aid.  Learn more about how you can apply for an $8,000 scholarship through the Utah Education Fits All initiative.

        Do you accept International Students?

        Yes, please contact the school which your are applying for information on international student requirements.

        Do your schools offer extracurricular activities?

        Yes! Our elementary school students participate in many sports through the Utah Catholic Sports League.  Schools also have local teams that participate in neighborhood leagues.  Our high schools have sports teams that compete against Utah Public Schools.  All Catholic schools have a wide variety of extracurricular activities to fit your child’s interests. For example, you can find anything from band, choir, dance, and theater clubs to robotics and chess.

        How do I know which school is best for my child?

        Each child is unique and requires a special environment that will allow them to reach their full potential. It is highly recommended that you visit the school nearest you, take a tour, and meet with the Principal.  All schools provide open houses during open enrollment periods.
