The Vicar for Clergy serves as a liaison between the bishop of the diocese and the clergy. Clergy consists of both priests and deacons, but in our diocese we have an Office of the Diaconate that is the liaison between the bishop and deacons. Some of the responsibilities of the Vicar for Clergy are:
Support and training for the priests in active ministry
Care for health and balance of life among priests both active and retired
Ongoing formation of priests
Chair the Priests' Personnel Board to make recommendations to the bishop for priest assignments
Facilitate extern priests applying for ministry and onboarding for when they arrive
Coordinate funeral planning for deceased priests and serve as an executor or personal representative as requested by the priests
