Bishop Oscar A. Solis calls upon all Catholics in Utah to urgently pray for the people of Venezuela in the aftermath of the two devastating earthquakes that rocked the country two days ago. The most recent reports from the Venezuelan government indicate that 920 people were killed and another 3,360 injured, with more than 50,000 people still missing. Bishop Solis urges prayers for the repose of the souls of those killed, for the recovery for the injured and for the well-being of those missing. He also asks for prayers for the people assisting the displaced and working to recover missing persons. In addition, he urges all pastors and administrators throughout the Diocese of Salt Lake City to include petitions for the people of Venezuela at all Masses this Sunday.
