Celestino Medina Jr.
March 14, 1939 ~ August 25, 2026
Celestino Medina Jr., our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, returned home to his Heavenly Father on August 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Celestino was born on March 14, 1939, to Eulogia and Celestino Medina in San Cristobal, New Mexico. During high school, he met the love of his life, Natalie Herzog, and the two were married on December 5, 1959. Together, they raised four children: Danny (Sue), Troy (Sandy), Lisa (Frank) and Mike (Michele); 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren who loved him dearly.
Celestino was a devoted member of St. Marguerite Parish, where he faithfully served in numerous roles dating back to the original church on Utah Avenue. His service included parish council president, men’s club president, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, lector and catechism teacher.
He worked at the Tooele Army Depot as a quality control inspector for 33 years before retiring. Later, he continued serving the community by driving SPED students for the Tooele County School District for an additional 10 years.
A dedicated coach, Celestino spent many years supporting his sons and daughter in youth sports. His family cherished countless camping and fishing trips to Soapstone Campground in the Uinta Mountains. Celestino’s love for Notre Dame football was one of his greatest joys. On game days, his home became a lively gathering place filled with family, friends, and spirited ND traditions. 
He raised his family with a deep faith in God, respect for others, and a commitment to helping those in need. He offered wisdom, counsel, and unwavering love – and never let anyone leave his home without knowing how much they were cherished. 
His family expresses their profound love and gratitude: Dad, Grandpa and Grampy, thank you for being our mentor, our hero and our example. We love you so much and you will be deeply missed. 
Celestino is survived by his wife Natalie; his brothers John (Michelle) and Felix (Brenda); his sister Marcella Stookey; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Eulogia Silva and Celestino; his siblings Connie, Roger, Orlando and Levi; and his grandson Jacob Celestino.
Funeral services were held on August 31, 2026, at St. Marguerite Catholic Church in Tooele. Interment followed at the Tooele City Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Emergency Department at Mountain West Medical Center, AirMed, the cardiovascular team at the University of Utah Hospital and Tate Mortuary.
