Ermalinda Mary Crotty was born in Pierz, Minnesota to parents Frank and Josephene Merkling. She was a school teacher in Minnesota until she met her husband, David. She worked as an office manager for a drilling and mining company in Salt Lake City until she retired in 1978. She was a devout Catholic and was devoted to her faith. She was very kind and all who met her came to love her as their own mom and/or grandma. She was a great cook. She was always thinking of others, oftentimes foregoing her own needs. She knitted hats, sweaters, booties, baby blankets and scarves for anyone who could use them. Ermalinda always planted a large garden and shared the bounty with family, neighbors and parishioners at Saint Vincent de Paul Church. Ermalinda is survived by her seven children, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is missed by all; she was the last of a great generation and has left a large hole in all of our hearts.
