December 4, 1943 ~ October 16, 2026 With loving hearts and cherished memories, we celebrate the life of Gene Vea, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and treasured friend. Gene leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, hard work, and a life filled with love and purpose. Gene was born on December 4, 1943, in Standardville, Utah, to Phillip Vea and Pauline Kishell. He received his early education at Notre Dame School, where he attended school for 12 years. He later continued his education at Weber State University, receiving his bachelor's degree in psychology. He went on to complete an electrical apprenticeship, beginning a successful and rewarding career in the electrical industry. Throughout his working years, Gene was known for his dedication, knowledge and strong work ethic. He spent many years working as an electrical supervisor, including his time at the Hunter and Huntington power plants. Retirement never diminished his desire to remain active and productive. He continued sharing his talents and experience through his appliance sales and repair business, taking great pride in his work. One of Gene's greatest blessings was his marriage to his beloved wife and soulmate, Claudia. Together, they shared 61 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on love, devotion and family. They were blessed with three children who remained a tremendous source of pride and happiness throughout his life. Gene found joy in life's simple pleasures. He had a deep appreciation for music and especially enjoyed singing, playing in bands, and giving accordion lessons. Music was a meaningful part of his life, bringing him happiness and providing wonderful memories for those fortunate enough to share those moments with him. He also took great pleasure in tending his vegetable garden and fruit trees, working with his hands, and enjoying the rewards of his hard work. A man of enduring faith, Gene was a lifelong and active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. His devotion to his Catholic faith was reflected in his many years of service to the Church and his community. At the time of his passing, Gene was serving as Faithful Navigator for the Fourth-Degree Knights of Columbus, a responsibility he carried with great pride, dedication, and a spirit of brotherhood. His faith remained an important foundation throughout his life, guiding his love for family, friends, and community. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Claudia; his son, Michael (Bonita) Vea; his daughters, Kerri (Brian) Bell and Monica (Mike) Mabry; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Barbara (Gayle) Blackburn and Janice (Ronnie) Gordon, along with extended family and many dear friends. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Anthony's Church in Gene's memory. A funeral Mass was celebrated October 22, 2026 at Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Helper. The committal service was at Mt. View Cemetery, Helper. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington, where friends may share memories of Gene online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
