James R Wohlitz 
July 23, 1944 ~ August 30, 2026
Jim Wohlitz, beloved storyteller, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on August 30, 2026 after a brief onset of heart complications at the age of 82. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Chuck and his daughter Susan.Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 23,1944, Jim grew up in Milwaukee and eventually Whittier, California, with his brothers Chuck and Dan and his parents Raymond and Jeanne. Jim returned to Milwaukee in 1962 to attend Marquette University, and it is there he met his best friend and wife Barbara. They called Milwaukee home until 1998. Together Barb and Jim recently celebrated their 60th anniversary in Milwaukee, surrounded by friends and family, good cheer and great health.
Jim loved to share the stories he lived during his storied career, whether as a radio personality at WFMR or technical support specialist at Harley Davidson, where his passion for motorcycles grew.  Jim travelled the world as a project manager for Harnischfeger, and it was this support of mining services that brought Barb and Jim to Salt Lake City.
Upon moving to the Salt Lake Valley, Jim and Barb felt they found their new home when they discovered Immaculate Conception Church in Copperton. Jim enjoyed serving his church on the parish council, as church administrator and as a lector. Jim also enjoyed the community and an endless supply of friends they made at Summit Vista over the last seven years. 
Jim’s greatest passion, shared with Barb, was raising their two children, Mike and his wife Deb, who now live in Dallas; and Susan, who passed away 21 years ago. Jim also enjoyed being a grandpa to Danielle, Joe and Robert and his great-granddaughter Lily.  
Please keep Jim and his family in your prayers, and if able, please join in celebrating Jim’s life at Immaculate Conception Church, 8892 W State Highway, Copperton on Friday, September 1.  Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. and a luncheon reception to follow, also at the church. Handicap access is available via a side door ramp for the visitation and Mass.
