Mary Irene Divver Mary Irene Divver, 61, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026, at St. Joseph's Villa. Throughout her life, Mary faced Type 1 diabetes and multiple sclerosis with remarkable strength and resilience. Though Mary’s disability took away her mobility, it never dampened her positivity. She rarely complained about her limitations and will be remembered for her vibrant spirit. She will also be remembered for her wonderful stories she loved to tell. Mary had a lifelong love affair with New York City – the Big Apple. She spent time there while attending the Fashion Institute of Technology, and one of her favorite stories to share was the time she received a ticket for jaywalking. She also took great pride in her time tutoring football players at the University of Utah, a role she cherished. Mary earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Utah in 1992. Her family extends heartfelt gratitude throughout the years to Jackie Sturt, Tania Sandquist, Anne Lemmon, Hank Borys (visiting Mary at St. Joseph’s with a joke every day), Corinne Smith Robinson (making zucchini bread), Linda Clark, Agbor and Deanna Agbor, Dave Shields (carrying Mary from wheelchair to home), Gary and Lynda Shields, staff at St. Joseph’s Villa (Anya and Ricardo) Trevelle Ryan, Kristine Hilborn, Kandice Barker and the many others who supported her and brought joy to her life. Mary is survived by her mother Jo Divver; her brother Jim Divver (Christie Divver); and her sister Eleanor Divver (Chris Robinson). They devoted many loving hours to caring for Mary and were a constant source of support and companionship throughout her life. Mary was a proud and loving aunt to her seven nieces and nephews: Caitlin, Steven, David and Spencer (children of Jim and Christie) and Carly, Lauren and Sabrina (children of Eleanor), as well as her five great-nieces and great-nephews, who brought immense joy and pride to her life. While her family will miss her dearly, we are so happy that she can now walk, run, bike, feel the wind in her hair, and do all the things she loved once more. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 2315 Redondo Avenue, Salt Lake City, with a luncheon to follow. All whose lives Mary touched are welcome to attend and celebrate her memory.
