The Ukrainian Orthodox Catholic community in Utah celebrated Easter Sunday with a Mass at the Carmel of the Immaculate Heart of Mary chapel in Salt Lake City. The congregation invited Father Oleh Zatvarskyy, a priest serving the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in California, to celebrate the Mass. “It had been a few years since they last heard the Mass in their own language,” said Carmelite Sister Therese Bui, a spokesperson for the monastery. “After the Mass they stayed to eat and talk. We nuns were so touched to see them all here for the glorious Easter Mass.” The Most Reverend Benedict Aleksiychuk, Bishop of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Chicago, gave his blessing for the event, said Nazar Bil, a local Catholic who organized the Mass.
