Deacon John Kranz serves as Chancellor of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, assisting the Bishop in the governance and administration of the diocese and supporting its mission to serve the Catholic faithful across Utah. Ordained to the permanent diaconate in 2004, Deacon Kranz has ministered at the Cathedral of the Madeleine and other parishes, where he has preached the Gospel, assisted at the altar, led baptisms, and provided pastoral care to parishioners. His diaconal ministry is rooted in a deep commitment to service, collaboration, and building up the Body of Christ.
In addition to his ecclesial service, Deacon Kranz brings more than 30 years of leadership experience from the global logistics industry. He most recently served as a General Manager in Salt Lake City for DSV, a Danish transport and logistics giant that, following its 2024 acquisition of DB Schenker, became the world’s largest freight forwarder. Over the course of his career, Deacon Kranz developed expertise in organizational leadership, strategic planning, and operational excellence, managing teams and complex supply chain operations across international markets. This professional experience informs his work as chancellor, where he combines business acumen with pastoral sensitivity to support clergy, religious, and laity in their ministries.
Deacon Kranz is married to Teresa Kranz and is deeply committed to fostering vibrant parish and diocesan communities. He continues to assist with liturgical and sacramental ministries while advancing the diocesan mission of proclaiming the Gospel and serving those in need.
