Catholic Community Services held its 2025 Humanitarian Awards Dinner Nov. 18.

It is bittersweet for me, as editor of the Intermountain Catholic, to announce that the Nov. 28, 2025 is the last print edition of this newspaper.

The Intermountain Catholic has had 16 editors over the course of its 126 years, one of whom served three different times in the role and another who served twice.

Over the past 126 years, the Intermountain Catholic has carried news that impacted the lives of Utah’s Catholic community, from disasters to labor disputes to wars to celebrations in the state, the nation and the world. This article revisits some of the most significant events the publication reported decade by decade.

The Intermountain Catholic has received numerous awards for its journalistic efforts from the two professional newspaper organizations to which it belongs: the Utah Press Association and the Catholic Media Association.

Over the past 126 years, the Intermountain Catholic has covered the lives of many Catholics – laity, clergy and religious – who were newsworthy locally, nationally and internationally.

For 126 years, Intermountain Catholic reporters have written about school events from graduations to student activities to sports to teachers’ accomplishments to the activities of alumni.
